Drying is the most critical elaboration step of large monolithic and crack-free silica aerogel plates. In the present work, we are studying the supercritical CO2 drying and more precisely the first step, here called the supercritical washing step. This phase consists of replacing the liquid phase contained in the nanopores with supercritical CO2. Within this study, this step is governed by molecular diffusion through the gels. These phenomena were investigated experimentally in order to estimate the duration of the washing step. The experimental results were then fitted with an analytical mass transfer model to identify the effective diffusion coefficient. 相似文献

Insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells is a complex process, involving the integration and interaction of multiple external and internal stimuli, in which glucose plays a major role. Understanding the physiology leading to insulin release is a crucial step toward the identification of new targets. In this study, we evaluated the presence of insulinotropic metabolites in Naja kaouthia snake venom. Only one fraction, identified as cardiotoxin-I (CTX-I) was able to induce insulin secretion from INS-1E cells without affecting cell viability and integrity, as assessed by MTT and LDH assays. Interestingly, CTX-I was also able to stimulate insulin secretion from INS-1E cells even in the absence of glucose. Although cardiotoxins have been characterized as potent hemolytic agents and vasoconstrictors, CTX-I was unable to induce direct hemolysis of human erythrocytes or to induce potent vasoconstriction. As such, this newly identified insulin-releasing toxin will surely enrich the pool of existing tools to study β-cell physiology or even open a new therapeutic avenue. 相似文献

GaInAsSb/GaAlAsSb/GaSb distributed-feedback (DFB) laser diodes based on a type I active region were fabricated by molecular beam epitaxy at the Centre d'Electronique et de Micro-Optoélectronique de Montpellier (CEM2). The DFB processing was done by Nanoplus Nanosystems and Technologies GmbH. The devices work in the continuous-wave regime above room temperature around an emission wavelength of 2.3 microm with a side-mode suppression ratio greater than 25 dB and as great as 10 mW of output power. The laser devices are fully characterized in terms of optical and electrical properties. Their tuning properties made them adaptable to tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy because they exhibit more than 220 GHz of continuous tuning by temperature or current. The direct absorption of CH4 is demonstrated to be possible with high spectral selectivity. 相似文献

The analysis of the surface chemistry of carbon materials is of prime importance in numerous applications, but it is still a challenge to identify and quantify the surface functional groups which are present on a given carbon. Temperature programmed desorption with mass spectrometry analysis (TPD-MS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy with an in situ heating device (TPD-XPS) were combined in order to improve the characterization of carbon surface chemistry. TPD-MS analysis allowed the quantitative analysis of the released gases as a function of temperature, while the use of a TPD device inside the XPS setup enabled the determination of the functional groups that remain on the surface at the same temperatures. TPD-MS results were then used to add constraints on the deconvolution of the O1s envelope of the XPS spectra. Furthermore, a better knowledge of the evolution of oxygen functional groups with temperature during a thermal treatment could be obtained. Hence, we show here that the combination of these two methods allows to increase the reliability of the analysis of the surface chemistry of carbon materials. 相似文献

The use of biological-probe-modified solid-state pores in biosensing is currently hindered by difficulties in pore-wall functionalization. The surface to be functionalized is small and difficult to target and is usually chemically similar to the bulk membrane. Herein, we demonstrate the contactless electrofunctionalization (CLEF) approach and its mechanism. This technique enables the one-step local functionalization of the single pore wall fabricated in a silica-covered silicon membrane. CLEF is induced by polarization of the pore membrane in an electric field and requires a sandwich-like composition and a conducting or semiconducting core for the pore membrane. The defects in the silica layer of the micropore wall enable the creation of an electric pathway through the silica layer, which allows electrochemical reactions to take place locally on the pore wall. The pore diameter is not a limiting factor for local wall modification using CLEF. Nanopores with a diameter of 200 nm fabricated in a silicon membrane and covered with native silica layer have been successfully functionalized with this method, and localized pore-wall modification was obtained. Furthermore, through proof-of-concept experiments using ODN-modified nanopores, we show that functionalized nanopores are suitable for translocation-based biosensing. 相似文献

Deoxynivalenol was extracted from wheat grain and quantified by GC-ECD. The quantification of deoxynivalenol can be critical, for example in certifying the amount of the mycotoxin in a lot and determining if this amount is over or under a fixed limit. Thus, an objective was to obtain representative samples to monitor DON quantification variability. We show that among the different steps of analysis the critical one is grain sampling. We also show that we were able to significantly improve the extraction rate without increasing the variability by using a longer extraction time with a magnetic agitator, and a grinding process which takes into account both the heterogeneous repartition of deoxynivalenol within wheat grains and different extraction rates according to the size of the flour powder particles. Thus, it could be of interest to use this methodology to determine if a lot is above or below a maximum limit because it enables the detection limit to be lowered, thereby simplifying the subsequent analysis. 相似文献

This work describes the assessment of the acoustic properties of sputtered tantalum oxide films intended for use as high-impedance films of acoustic reflectors for solidly mounted resonators operating in the gigahertz frequency range. The films are grown by sputtering a metallic tantalum target under different oxygen and argon gas mixtures, total pressures, pulsed dc powers, and substrate biases. The structural properties of the films are assessed through infrared absorption spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction measurements. Their acoustic impedance is assessed by deriving the mass density from X-ray reflectometry measurements and the acoustic velocity from picosecond acoustic spectroscopy and the analysis of the frequency response of the test resonators. 相似文献

This paper deals with two corroded reinforcement concrete beams, which have been stored under sustained load in a chloride environment for 14 and 23 years respectively. The evolution of corrosion pattern of reinforcement and its influence on serviceability are studied. In chloride-induced corrosion process, corrosion cracking affects significantly the corrosion pattern. During the corrosion cracking initiation period, only local pitting corrosion occurs. At early stage of cracking propagation, localized pitting corrosion is still predominant as cracks widths are very small and cracks are not interconnected, but a general corrosion slowly develops as the cracks widen. At late cracking stage, interconnected cracking with wide width develops along large parts of the beam leading to a general corrosion pattern. Macrocells and microcells concepts are used for the interpretation of the results.Mechanical experiments and corrosion simulation tests are performed to clarify the influence of this corrosion pattern evolution on the serviceability of the beams (deflection increase). Experimental results show that, when the corrosion is localized (early cracking stage), the steel–concrete bond loss is the main factor affecting the beams serviceability. The local cross-section loss resulting from pitting attack does not significantly influence the deflection of the beam. When corrosion is generalized (late cracking stage), as the steel–concrete bond is already lost, the generalized steel cross-section reduction becomes the main factor affecting the beams serviceability. But, at this stage, the deflection increase is slower due to the low general corrosion rate. 相似文献

We report a patient with Sj?gren's syndrome and multiple gastrointestinal manifestations who successfully responded to therapy with ursodeoxycholic acid. Our patient had sialoadenitis with dry mouth, dry eyes, arthralgia, chronic pancreatitis, sclerosing cholangitis, and pulmonary infiltrations. The first signs of disease were the symptoms of chronic pancreatitis followed by icterus, caused by extrahepatic bile duct obstruction. Sclerosing cholangitis was diagnosed by liver biopsy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiography. Sialoadenitis, causing dry mouth, was verified by buccal biopsy. Pulmonary infiltrations were seen on standard chest x-ray, and also shown by high-resolution computed tomography examination. Obstructive icterus and even pulmonary infiltration responded successfully to treatment with ursodeoxycholic acid. 相似文献
